Wolfpack Weekly

March 12, 2018

Wolfpack family,

Spring sports start today and it looks like spring might actually, finally have a chance in our valley. We highly encourage all of our players to participate in track as there simply is no substitute for speed and if our players each get faster, we will be a better team in the fall. Track develops not only speed, but mental and physical toughness through endurance training. It also develops overall athleticism so as football coaches, we want to see all of our players involved in track this spring.

Spring also means it is time to begin open gyms and, after taking the winter off, begin football activities again in preparation for our team camp in Spokane June 18-21. Our guys have done a tremendous job building strength in the weight room this winter and that was on full display last Wednesday night at our lift-a-thon event. Thanks to all of you who sponsored your son and/or another player in their efforts and thanks to those of you who attended that great night to cheer them on and witness their growth.

7 on 7 uniforms and lift-a-thon: The deadline to earn and order your 7 on 7 uniforms is THIS Wednesday. Money can be raised indefinitely but if you want a 7 on 7 uniform, the order goes final Wednesday. Get your sheet to Coach Wilson by then to place your order or make sure he orders the right size for you.

Spokane Camp registration: The deadline for Spokane camp registrations is the end of this month, March 31st which is spring break. That essentially gives you two weeks until Mar 23rd to let me know if you plan on going to Spokane camp. We need to know our numbers so we can order and plan for buses, hotel rooms, meals, team depth for scrimmages each day etc. Please, please talk with your son tonight about plans and turn in your registration with a small down payment. The balance can be paid up until we leave the week of June 15th. We can also help players find work to help earn their remaining balance so let me know if you're interested in that opportunity.

Lastly, our coaches are working hard on helping our players improve as athletes and as healthy young men by making sure they are getting adequate sleep and proper nutrition. More and more studies are proving the immense benefits of making sure these items are being given equal time and effort along with the physical effort they exert daily in their workouts. Many of our guys workout extremely hard every day but aren't seeing the gains they'd like and often times this is because of lack of sleep or poor nutrition. Look for more information to come and ways for the guys to begin tracking the amount of sleep they get each and day along with their eating habits. In the meantime, try to build the habit of getting 8+ hours every night and at least eat your weight in protein every day.
